We have started branching out, at least within the confines of San Diego County. We now have New Breed carried in the communities of Grossmont (of course!), Santee, Hazard Center, Point Loma, Horton Plaza/Downtown, and La Jolla. The stores are Barnes & Noble, Book Star, and Crown Books. Some of the stores are in the process of receiving their orders, but the stores that I’ve been able to sign at are very nice and accommodating.
There’s author signings on the horizon and we are taking leads and finding ways to market and keep increasing the exposure of the book, and my pen name as an author. The experience has been exciting, frustrating, fulfilling, and so many other things.
I spoke with another local author at the last signing. I’m glad that I’m not alone in regards to the many hats an author wears in the course of a day. There’s the obvious task of writing, blogging, marketing, keeping up on orders, and following up with stores. We research other marketing possibilities, and we post on social media. That doesn’t include our duties as a family and parents. We juggle it all, and happily so. It is not a life for instant gratification. It is an investment. It is a passion. It is love.
I’m far from making an income as a full time writer… or am I? One thing is for sure, I can’t stop until I get there!
