The hard fact for most writers is that there must be a balance between working a day job and refining the craft. Unless a writer is independently wealthy, married well, or enjoys the thrill of no shelter and hunger that bills need to be paid.
I start a new job today as part of my financial contribution to my family. It’s not what I want to do, of course, but part of being an adult and responsible means it’s what I need to do.
This more regimented schedule should help me write more, which is a wonderful consolation. I’m interested in seeing how this plays out!
