April 15th was the date of my first book signing at the Barnes and Noble in Grossmont Center, San Diego, CA. It was an extraordinary experience! After so many years, I arrived to a point in my career as a writer I hadn’t really planned! I utilized social media, in particular, Facebook to make announcements and send out invitations.. I was received by family and friends alike. Seeing their faces and having their support carried me through the event.
The store sold out, which was a delightful surprise! I’m currently booked for the next signing in August, with more in the future. I feel very gratified that New Breed is met with so much interest. My readers have consistently provided feedback that the story flows and has lots of great twists. I’ve also been told that the characters are engaging and it’s difficult to put down! That was my goal, so I am satisfied.
My mother shared with me that in addition to my father’s advice and efforts, she saw writing as a talent of mine. She has been there supporting me with everything from poems, essays, and articles. When I was in college, she would counsel with me as I struggled, trying to decide on a major and what path to take professionally. I am a type 1 diabetic as well, so time wasn’t a luxury for me. As I stopped being eligible to be covered by my parent’s insurance, I had to work to have insurance, which naturally cut into my writing time,
Despite set backs and life events, I persevered. The guidance of my loving parents has been invaluable. This is just one more reason I could never thank them enough for all they’ve done, and all they’ve given to me.
Thaanks for this blog post
